What's IN/OUT this week
I am the Cookie Monster of breakfast pastries.

I am not a person who ever feels comfortable taking a selfie. That’s really a shame, because I’m having an undeniably great hair day.
IN: Making lunch the main meal. Every so often I like to make small tweaks to my routine and fool myself into thinking it will be What Changes Everything. I’m now making lunch my largest, fanciest meal of the day, then immediately taking the dog out for a nice walk. I imagine this is as close as I’ll ever get to biohacking. (Also: Make this.) OUT: The in-between spring days. You know the deal: Not a single outfit was ever designed to manage sweating in the sun then shivering in the shade. A single walk down the street feels like borderline climate disorder. You take a deep inhale when you see a blooming magnolia tree… only to be hit by the scent of a lurking ornamental pear tree (IYKYK).
IN: A mid-morning coffee date. What remains one of the great benefits of working from home/for yourself is the opportunity to pop out for a coffee. As a real go-getter1 , I tend to forgo this perk. Not this week, sweet readers. My buddy Mike also has a real flimflam schedule, so we met up and he politely watched me demolish the messiest spinach and feta danish in the world. OUT: Book clubs. Does every celebrity have a book club at this point? I can’t do that stuff anymore. I am either Hoovering up pages in five days or spending three months trudging through a novel. There is no in between and I cannot burden or be burdened by a group.
IN: Lewis OfMan. This dancey little Frenchman has a new album out and the more I listen, the more I love it. “Don’t Stop” is the banger. If you have the opportunity, see him LIVE. He will give you a full show, start to fin. OUT: Failing to nab tickets to a Gelli Haha show. For the countless hours I spend on the internet, I will never understand how I miss concert announcements for musicians I like. Gelli Haha will be in Chicago for two shows and both sold out before I even knew she was coming to town. Does anyone have a connection at Schubas Tavern?? Fun aside: A few years ago, I was talking to my mom about going to concerts and she responded, “You’re still doing that, huh?” Music: Maybe you’ll grow out of it.

I screenshot one of Lewis’s Instagram stories specifically for his sick belt buckle.
IN: Packing. I’m off to New Orleans tomorrow!!!!!!!!!! I have to plan my outfits very carefully, though, because I bought the low-fare tickets that only let you carry on a backpack and a smile. OUT: My Tuesday newsletter next week. I’d love to be someone who works ahead, but alas… I will be filled with blue crab beignets and pure, unbridled joy.
Tell me what you hated this week!
1 Idiot.
